Green Development and Technological Innovation 'Hundreds of Thousands of Talents Engineering Innovation Forum Held

Sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, and co-organized by the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, the 'Green Development and Technological Innovation' Hundreds of Thousands of Talents Engineering Innovation Forum was held in Beijing from September 16th to 17th. Huang Runqiu, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech entitled 'Vigorously Promoting Environmental Protection Technology Innovation, Comprehensively Supporting Green Development and Environmental Quality Improvement'. Huang Runqiu pointed out that during the 41st collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that we should promote the formation of green development methods and lifestyles, and create a good production and living environment for the people. The theme of this year's Millions of Talents Project Innovation Forum is determined to be 'Green Development and Technological Innovation', which fits well with the new development concept and the spirit of the times of environmental protection, and is an important practice to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions. Huang Runqiu emphasized that the realization of green development and the overall improvement of ecological environment quality must rely on scientific and technological progress and innovation. In the field of environmental protection technology, we must focus on several aspects of work: First, aim at key scientific and technological issues in the environmental field, break through key and difficult points, and provide scientific and technological support for the 'three major battles' and natural ecological protection. Second, environmental technology innovation should serve environmental management decision-making, support the formation of a sound system of laws, regulations and standards, and promote the modernization of ecological and environmental governance systems and capabilities. The third is to establish a scientific and technological support system for environmental risk prevention and control. The fourth is to establish a dynamic transformation system of environmental protection scientific and technological achievements. In addition, in the face of the new situation and new tasks of environmental protection, it is necessary to give full play to the leading role of outstanding talents in the field of environmental protection, create a good environment for talent development, establish an effective talent evaluation and assessment mechanism, and continuously improve the talent training mechanism. You Jun, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech. The forum set up six sub-forums on air pollution prevention and control, water pollution prevention and control, soil pollution prevention and control, pollution discharge permit system and environmental management transformation, scientific delineation of ecological protection red line, environment and health, and special activities for industry-university-research cooperation. During the forum, five academicians, Hao Jiming, Wei Fusheng, Yin Weilun, Qu Jiuhui, and Hou Li'an, made keynote reports, and representatives of relevant departments, scientific research institutes, and experts and scholars from universities made special reports. More than 300 representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, local environmental protection departments, relevant scientific research institutes, universities and environmental protection enterprises attended the forum.
