How to measure turbidity with online turbidimeter

by:BOQU     2023-04-10
According to experts, turbidity refers to the degree of resistance of the solution to the passage of light, which includes the scattering of light by suspended matter and the absorption of light by solute molecules. The turbidity of water is not only related to the content of suspended substances in the water, but also related to their size, shape and refractive index. Turbidity is usually suitable for water quality determination of natural water, drinking water and some industrial water. The water sample for turbidity measurement should be tested as soon as possible, or it must be refrigerated at 4°C and tested within 24 hours. Before the measurement, the water sample should be shaken vigorously and returned to room temperature. Suspended solids and colloids such as soil, silt, fine organic matter, inorganic matter, and plankton in water can make the water turbid and present a certain turbidity. According to the water quality analysis, the turbidity formed by 1 mg in 1L of water is one Standard turbidity unit, referred to as 1 degree. Generally, the higher the turbidity, the cloudier the solution. Therefore, the online turbidity meter came into being, which is used to measure the turbidity in water quality, and can be widely used in tap water, waste water, industrial circulating water and other enterprises. The measurement principle is as follows: the incandescent light emitted from the light source assembly of the sensor enters the turbidimeter downwards and encounters suspended particles in the sample to generate scattered light. The sensor's photodetector, immersed in the water sample, detects scattered light at a 90° angle to the incident beam. Continuously flowing water samples pass through a patented air bubble removal system that removes air bubbles entrained in the sample stream, thereby eliminating significant interference in low turbidity measurements; the air removal system is independent of sample flow rate and pressure impact of change. Its specific features are as follows: 1. The turbidity sensor is composed of an electronic unit and a measurement unit (including a measurement pool and auxiliary devices). The product has the characteristics of high precision and low power consumption. The turbidity sensor consists of two parts, a laser light source and a light intensity sensor. The stability of the laser light source directly affects the accuracy and reproducibility of the measuring instrument. The use of halogen tungsten lamps as the light source of the turbidity meter has a service life of only a few hundred to several thousand hours, while the use of laser components not only saves energy and is environmentally friendly, but also increases the service life to 5 years. Therefore, the laser component is selected as the light source, and the constant current source is used to stabilize the light source. The light intensity sensor detects how much light is scattered by the particles in the water from the direction of 90° to the incident light. The intensity of scattered light received by different turbidity is different. The sensor converts this change signal into a current signal and transmits it. . 2. The water system automatically adjusts the pressure and flow rate of the water sample to be tested, so that the water sample flows into the measuring pool at a constant flow rate, improving the stability of the instrument. 3. The light source adopts a laser source, the light source is stable, low power consumption, energy saving and environmental protection, and the analog output is 4-20mA standard signal. 4. It has the upper and lower limit alarm function, and the upper and lower limit alarm has two independent relay output controls, and the return difference can be adjusted independently. 5. It has two display modes: digital display and waveform display. The digital display mode has upper and lower limit alarm display and time and date display. The waveform display mode can automatically adjust the display range according to the upper and lower limit alarm values. 6. The value of the offset b can be adjusted according to the formula y=kx+b, and the positive or negative of the offset can be adjusted. 7. With the waveform recording function, it can continuously record the waveform data of two months (60) days, and can browse the historical data. 8. In addition to the transmission function, the transmitter also has an isolation function. The input and output signals of the sensor are isolated by a linear optocoupler circuit, which effectively ensures the stability of the signal. In summary, I believe that through the explanation of turbidity, the analysis of turbidity measurement principle, and the introduction of related functional characteristics, everyone has a basic understanding of the online turbidity meter.
