Several possible harms caused by man-made water pollution and water quality monitoring

by:BOQU     2023-03-22
When it comes to water pollution, you may think of industrial production or domestic sewage discharge, etc., but you don’t care about water pollution caused by man-made, otherwise there would not be so many people littering waste into the river. After a long time, it will cause serious pollution of the water body, so that the sewage caused by man-made does not need to be treated and monitored? of course not! Understand the harm caused by man-made water pollution! Let's first understand the possible hazards caused by man-made water pollution: 1. Cause acute and chronic poisoning. Poisoning can occur through drinking water or the food chain when water is contaminated with toxic and harmful chemicals. Known as Minamata disease, painful illnesses are caused by water pollution. 2. Carcinogenesis. Some carcinogens such as arsenic, chromium, nickel, beryllium, aniline, benzo(a)pyrene and other PAHs and halohydrocarbons can be absorbed by suspended solids and sediments, or accumulate in aquatic organisms. Long-term consumption of water containing this substance or consumption of organisms (such as fish) that contain this substance in their bodies can cause cancer. 3. The emergence of infectious diseases in water. Biological environmental pollutants such as human and animal feces, causing water pollution, may cause intestinal bacterial infections, such as typhoid fever, dysentery, enteritis, cholera, etc. Common network viruses, such as poliovirus, hepatitis A virus and enterovirus, can be used to analyze the pollution problems caused by water bodies, thus causing corresponding infectious diseases among students. In 1989, the 'hepatitis A incident' in Shanghai was caused by water pollution. 4. Indirect effects. After water pollution, industrial wastewater treatment companies often lead to deterioration of the sensory properties of water, such as certain concentrations of certain pollutants, although there is no direct harm to human health, but the water will have different odors, different colors, and the appearance of foam and oil film hinder the normal use of water. A certain concentration of zinc, copper, nickel and other substances will inhibit the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, thereby affecting the decomposition and biological oxidation of organic matter in the water, reducing the self-purification ability of the water body, and affecting the health of the water. But no matter what kind of hazard, we should not underestimate it, so we must do a good job in sewage treatment and online monitoring of water quality, the purpose is to ensure the safety of water quality!
